About the role….

As the Safety & Wellbeing Manager for our ANZ operations and Head Office support functions, you’re the leader and go-to specialist for any and all safety and wellbeing matters across the region.

A strategic partner to the ANZ Senior Director of Operations and Regional General Managers, you’re the driver of our proactive, genuine culture of safety and wellbeing, partnering with our operational teams to build capability and great safety and wellbeing business practices.

 

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and manage a travel program to provide on-site presence and support at hotels across the region in line with business requirements.
  • Lead the delivery of the Safety & Wellbeing strategy in the region, driving performance to deliver on the strategic objectives in line with the three-year strategic timeframe

 

Incident and Injury Response

  • Provide support and guidance to operational teams responding to critical incidents, ensuring legislative incident notification requirements are met and liaising with regulatory bodies.
  • Partner with injury management provider/s, insurers and occupational rehabilitation specialists to support injury response and recovery, driving the concept of early and proactive intervention

 

Worker’s Compensation Claims Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key workers compensation stakeholders including insurers, injury management partners, rehabilitation providers and brokers.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge for workers compensation legislation across your region and ensure systems and processes comply with all relevant legislative requirements

 

Incidents Investigations and Actions

  • Lead and coordinate investigations into accidents and incidents, assessing options, providing advice and following up. You ensure full case closure post-incident and verify safety controls are in place and all investigations and corrective actions are fully documented
  • Undertake periodical audits of the Safety & Wellbeing and Psychosocial risk registers, analysing business data to build corrective and preventative measures into the operations

 

Training, Consultation and Verification

  • You’re an advisor, motivator and coach when it comes to helping leaders to fully embrace and implement Safety & Wellbeing programs and practices, completing structured stakeholder meetings with operational leaders on a regular, recurring basis
  • Lead the development and improvement of TFE’s Safety & Wellbeing training resources and programmes, developing and delivering virtual and face-to-face training programs and briefings to leaders and Team Members.
  • Conduct auditing activities, writing audit reports and action plans to drive follow-up actions.

 

Mental Health and Wellbeing

  • Develop and coordinate delivery of monthly wellbeing focus activities and activation initiatives

 

Food Safety

  • Champion the Food Safety Programmes and coordinate periodic reviews to ensure currency, fit-for-purpose and compliance with legislation.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders ensuring the training and education of leaders and Team Members to drive safe food handling practices and compliance

 

About you:

Experience

  • 3+ years of technical experience in health and safety management, from a hotel, retail or similar industry.
  • Previous experience working with health and safety, legislation and management systems across multiple geographies.
  • A deep understanding of workers compensation insurance and injury management
  • Excellent relationship development and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Experience and knowledge working with the relevant Australian legislation, regulatory bodies and food safety programmes.
  • Technically proficient in core safety and wellbeing related tasks including completion of risk assessments, creation of policies/procedures, auditing and report writing
  • Exceptional attention to detail, delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills
  • Full working rights in Australia (permanent/full-time hours)

 

Education

  • Tertiary or vocational qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety
  • Certification as a Return to Work Coordinator and Mental Health First Aider
