The Senior Finance Data Analyst is primarily responsible for understanding and using financial and operational data to answer business questions, provide reports and deliver actionable insights that support stakeholder decision-making. This is an exciting hybrid role that combines Finance disciplines with business intelligence techniques. In addition to data analysis projects they will provide technical and analytical support primarily for Finance as well as other business units. This role will be reporting to the Head of Finance Data Analytics.

Responsibilities: 

  • Complete Finance data analysis projects and hypothesis testing from initial stages of requirements gathering, to analysing data and deriving business insights through to providing recommendations
  • Develop and enhance Finance data assets (eg. Cost Allocation model, Product Hierarchy, dashboards) that produce KPIs, empower end users and influence decision making
  • Act as a trusted advisor for Finance on data and reporting needs. Identify opportunities to provide new insights by leveraging data analytics tools and applying a deep understanding of source system data and processes across the value chain
  • Collaborate closely with teams in Technology and data owners to manage data availability and provide input into data governance
  • Work in an agile manner to manage competing priorities whilst continuously delivering iterative improvements
  • Champion a data-driven Finance culture by promoting the adoption of data tools (such as OLAP Cubes, PowerQuery, SQL, PowerBI etc.), providing training and raising awareness of data hygiene

Skills:

  • 5+ years Finance experience in Control, Planning & Analysis, Commercial or similar
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • SQL experience favourable but not compulsory. Must be willing to learn and have strong existing Excel skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving mindset
  • Proven track record of building strong stakeholder relations by working collaboratively
  • Outstanding communication skills and effective use of data visualization
